Courage Retreat

AN INSPIRING PROGRAM FOR MIDDLE & JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

"The students eyes were opened to what others around them might be feeling. They learned how their actions could affect others and change their school to make it a much better place."
Tracy Frank, Principal - United South Central Middle School

Helping middle school students act with courage

It takes courage to stand up for what's right. And it takes courage for a student to stand up for his or her own values when peers are heading in the opposite direction. In one action-packed day, the Youth Frontiers Courage Retreat empowers students in grades seven or eight to examine their fears and commit themselves to acting with courage. The Courage Retreat helps build a more caring and inclusive school climate by encouraging students to accept people for who they are, resist following the crowd and act with moral courage despite their fears.

What the Courage Retreat will do

  • Create a more inclusive school climate.
  • Reduce bullying.
  • Help your students stand up for their values and beliefs.

Impact that lasts

According to data gathered through an independent study, two months after their Courage Retreat, 70% of participants had followed through with their act of courage and 71% felt better able to act with courage in a moment of decision.
